the 'collective' of curation, creation, & collaboration
A Cyber Space 'Sonic' Museum of electronic music History & The Public Domain

The rules of this collective are simple:
1. The music of each song can only be made with a single electronic instrument (for example, when Daniel Miller used the miniKORG 700s to record both the music and percussion for the songs 'Warm Leatherette' and 'T.V.O.D.'). As with the songs mentioned, feel welcome to record several tracks to create your composition. Furthermore, as Daniel used a 'Space Echo' for his songs, we also welcome the use of effects on the tracks of your song to allow you to shape your compositions to your desired liking.
2. Only use an electronic instrument, or emulation of an electronic instrument (such as a VST or App), or type of synthesis (analog, fm, theremin, stylophone) that is from before 1980.
3. Showcase in the song a quote, passage, or phrase from the public domain. This can be done by a spoken word performance over the music or by singing. We also encourage historic electronic techniques such as using a vocoder, harmonizer, or talkbox.
4. Each submission must be in the form of an 'exquisite corpse' with each portion being less than 2 minutes in length (for example, a submission could be a triptych in 3 parts).
Remember:
- This project is 'by the people' for the people'. One of the reasons that only historic electronic instruments (or emulations) can be used is because they are 'tone generators' and not sample based, PCM, or wavetable instruments. Therefore the creators of each song are free to giveaway (or sell) portions of their songs as 'construction units' for other aspiring musicians to use for their own compositions.
